Tuition on the rise, students unhappy
“The increased costs may steer students away, but it is a gamble Madonna has to take in order to raise some more money,” said Nathaniel Theobald, a nursing student at MU.  “Being a private school, I believe that Madonna is always going to have an issue with creating revenue.”

Michael Grandillo eager to become president

With plans to take office in the beginning of July, Michael Grandillo is looking forward to beginning his time here at Madonna.
“I believe Franciscan values and the excellence and relevancy of our academic programs make us distinctive in the higher education marketplace.  Raising this academic presence will be an early goal.

We will listen and learn so we can lead.  Sister Rose Marie and the Felician Sisters have passed on to me a place that is flourishing, both academically and spiritually." 

Madonna students to volunteer at Gala, appreciate benefactors

Madonna students can now recycle plastic and cardboard on campus.
Six receptacles have been placed in the Academic Building, four in the Franciscan Center, one in DiPonio and one in Maertens.
“I can’t stress this enough, becoming a more conscious consumer means having fewer items to recycle overall,” said Chris Benson, member of the Sustainability Council.

Del Taco restaurant food tastes phenomenal
China Inn menu proves delicious

A Del Taco has recently opened on Middlebelt road and its food tastes fantastic.
In addition to tacos and burritos, the restaurant
also serves hamburgers and french fries.
The restaurant is south of I-96 on Middlebelt, about 5 miles from campus.

There are not many places around Madonna where you are able to get Chinese food; but the China Inn located at 5 mile and Newburgh is not a bad option.

“Not getting a win my freshman year drove me in the off season to get better.
However, I'm still fairly unproven in my career. I have put together a couple of good games but I still have a long road ahead of me.”



Women's softball kicks off 2015 season in sunny Florida

“As a team, I want to see us treat every game like an elimination game. Every single game counts when you are trying to win the league, a conference tournament championship, and make it to Regionals. We have to play with that sense of urgency and treat every game like it’s the most important one in making it into the post season,” said senior Karleigh Creighton.

Travis Schuba excited to play professionally

Travis Schuba, former Crusader basketball player, has just signed a professional contract to play for the Washington Generals.
“Being a professional athlete is a dream come true! I’ve wanted play professionally since I was a little kid and to be living out that dream is crazy for me,” said Schuba.



Women's golf eager for new season
Men's golf team ready to get back on track

The Women’s golf season is shaping up to be another great one. The team has shown a lot of potential, and continues to improve. The season will officially begin when the team travels for spring break at the end of February.
The first tournament will be held March 8-10 in Kentucky.


The Crusaders men’s team is looking to begin the new season with confidence. Led by seniors Drew Mossoian and Nick Corbeil, they will work for success in the conference.
