Written, produced and crewed by Madonna University students, “Man in the Mirror” tells the story of a young man mourning the recent loss of his father while coping with his mother’s addictions, as well as his own. Written and directed by Livonia resident and MU student, Christopher Nickin, “Man in the Mirror” explores the prevalent themes many of America’s youth are facing today: drug abuse, family financial crisis and death. Under the direction of Professor Charles Derry and adjunct Professor Christopher Coppola, the film features local talent from the area, including students of Madonna University, and will be scored by Madonna’s Music Department. “Man in the Mirror” premieres Saturday, Dec. 12 at 5 p.m. at the newly remodeled Kresge Auditorium at Madonna University. Admission is $5.

Madonna University is looking for students to help wrap presents for recipients of the Christmas for Kids program, an annual event that has helped needy families in the area for almost 20 years. Christmas for Kids provides a toy, book, and article of clothing for each child and a Christmas meal for the sponsored families.  Stop by the Take-5 Lounge between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m on Dec. 2 and 9 for “Wrap Wednesdays.” “Wrap Wednesdays,” a new component to the Christmas for Kids tradition, was started this year to keep people from having to wrap presents until 2 a.m. on the Saturday before Christmas. Free candy will be offered as an incentive for wrapping several gifts. It’s an easy way to spend a few spare moments helping others this holiday season.  Madonna University students and their families and friends are also invited to the all-day, drop-in wrapping event on Dec. 19. Students can also stop by Room 1001 during any school day in the weeks leading up to Christmas to help wrap gifts. Contact Edna Rankine, student activities coordinator, for information about the Christmas for Kids program at 734-432-5425 or erankine@madonna.edu.
