Press box memorial donations
sought to honor Patrick Moore

Patrick I. Moore, Madonna University's Sports Information Director and 2003 Journalism/Public Relations graduate, passed away Nov. 29.
Donations are being sought to build the Patrick I. Moore press box at the Madonna Athletic Complex's soccer field.

Madonna welcomes new president

Inauguration celebrations started Oct. 14 with a reception for the community to meet President Michael Grandillo.  A mass and luncheon preceded the inauguration ceremony Oct. 17.
“As we all reflect on what we can all do for Madonna, let us always remember how much, and how fast, Felician Sisters changed America,” said Grandillo during his inauguration speech.

'Year-Long Dialogue on Human Dignity' begins

The Institutional Standing Committee for Campus Diversity and Inclusion has planned programs for every month to focus on three different topics: immigration, race, and human trafficking. Immigration was discussed first to include first-hand stories from two students who experienced fear for themselves and their families.
The next event is "Stop Human Trafficking" at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 9 in Kresge Hall.

Madonna University's 6th annual pet blessing

Madonna University held its 6th annual pet blessing earlier this month in honor of St. Francis Assisi. Many gathered for the special ceremony where Father Tony Fox blessed their pets.

Convocation opens school year

2 students in running for service scholarship

Scholarship, grant contest keeps Madonna in running
Madonna students Nicole Carlin (her group pictured at right) and Lorraine Bonkowski, along with three other finalists, are competing in Ford Motor Company’s Heart Behind the Oval contest.
The 1st place winner will receive a $1,000 grant to use toward their service work as well as a $2,500 scholarship. Winners will be announced in early December.

April showers will bring construction on I-275

Everyone in Michigan knows that learning to cruise around potholes should be included in every student’s driver’s test, and that once the winter thaw begins, construction is on the horizon. Next spring, I-275 will be put under the jackhammer and revamped.

New registration dates ease planning

Renovations update campus living

Madonna University welcomed students back to the Residence Hall with a co-ed floor and a weight room. Select students were also given an opportunity to live in on-campus cottages instead of the dorms. 

2015 Commencement features nearly 1,200 grads

The 68th commencement took place at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth on Mother's Day. Sr. Rose Marie, President, presided over her last ceremony.  
Students learn about financial literacy with fashion show
Madonna’s new Health Science major is designed to be a gateway for students who seek unique careers in the medical field. A $50,000 grant will assist in implementing the new curriculum.

For most college students, finances are a very important aspect of attending college since most students borrow money that they will eventually have to pay back. 
In April, Madonna University will help students learn about managing their money in a new, stylish way.

Never underestimate the power of a grilled cheese and a bowl of tomato soup, especially for a quick meal between classes. The restaurant is off Haggerty near Seven Mile in Northville Township. Prices range from $3 to $7 and customers can build their own sandwiches. 

​Italian American Chorale's first concert

The charitable foundation of Livonia presented the Italian American Chorale on Oct. 8 for their first concert. The chorale was started by Madonna student Viviana Garabello and has 11 members to date. The chorale performed 6 songs, one of which was composed by Viviana herself. 

Student launches Italian American Chorale

Viviana Garabello moved from Italy last year in order to pursue her passion for music. She has started a chorale that has about 10 members. She would like double that number and would like Madonna University students to consider joining. Rehearsals are conducted 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. every Friday at the Italian American Club of Livonia, Five Mile and I-275.

Men's basketball eager to rebound after last season 

Madonna’s men’s basketball team is about to start a new season with a young team. 

8 new sports added to Madonna Athletics

Madonna University is bringing in eight new sports to the school to draw more students to the school and provide more activities for students.
The new sports are men's and women's lacrosse, indoor track, outdoor track, and bowling.
The new sports will start in 2016-17.
Patrick Dougherty (pictured at left) has been named the new indoor and outdoor track coach for both men and women. He adds these sports to his current duty as cross country coach.
Bryan Bressler has been named the new bowling coach for both squads.

Golfers raise more than $50,000 for student scholarships

The Madonna Golf Classic is an event that has been held for 20 years to raise money for scholarships and this year's version attracted a record number of golfers.
