Madonna names Michael Grandillo as university's 7th president

Michael Grandillo will assume the office of president July 1, replacing Sr. Rose Marie, who served as the university's leader for 14 years. 
The chair of the presidential search committee made the announcement Feb. 11. Grandillo becomes the first lay president in the university's history.
"This process, which has taken months of focused, hard work, has led us to an individual whose passion, skills and deep understanding of Madonna's Felician/Franciscan Mission, will lead to further growth and distinction for Madonna University," said Leonard Suchyta, past chair of the Madonna University Board of Trustees.

As many people know, human sex trafficking is a major problem in numerous parts of the world.
Several tactics are being used to stop this tragic problem. Madonna University hosted an event that tackles this problem in a different way.


Survivor, author speaks out against human trafficking

Roughly 125 people attended the human trafficking awareness lecture on Jan. 9. The following morning, approximately 115 people participated in the SOAP Up service project, delivering soap to hotels and bringing awareness to this devastating crime.

Walls gives American Idol a second shot this year, and it proved to be successful as she is on her way to the Hollywood rounds.

The university has created two new health sciences majors—Population Health Care Management and Health Care Informatics and Quality Systems Management. Students studying these concentrations of health science will be prepared to work in the changing health care field.

Travis Schuba excited to play professionally

Travis Schuba, former Crusader basketball player, has just signed a professional contract to play for the Washington Generals.
“Being a professional athlete is a dream come true! I’ve wanted play professionally since I was a little kid and to be living out that dream is crazy for me,” said Schuba.



Women's golf eager for new season
Men's golf team ready to get back on track

The Women’s golf season is shaping up to be another great one. The team has shown a lot of potential, and continues to improve. The season will officially begin when the team travels for spring break at the end of February.
The first tournament will be held March 8-10 in Kentucky.


The Crusaders men’s team is looking to begin the new season with confidence. Led by seniors Drew Mossoian and Nick Corbeil, they will work for success in the conference.

Women's basketball aims to keep winning; men to look to finish on a high note 
Halfway through their season so far, and the men’s basketball team is determined to end up on top while the women seek to keep the momentum going.

The five seniors in the Crusaders basketball programs have made a significant impact on their respective programs and in return, their experience here has made a positive impact on them as individuals.
