A total of 70 student-athletes participated in the fall sports postseason banquet last month.

The banquet took place at the Suburban Collection Showplace and designed for men’s and women’s soccer, cross country and volleyball teams. The student-athletes attended the event together with their family and friends and other representatives of Madonna University.

After the speech by Madonna University Athletic Director Bryan Rizzo and the prayer by Madonna University President Sister Rose Marie Kujawa, attendants enjoyed the brunch.

Many parents of the athletes attended the event and their encouragement was appreciated.

“Their support means everything to me. Throughout my four years running here at Madonna, at least one, if not both, of them was at every single race,” said Tim Boes, Madonna Crusader, majoring in Social Work. “I would not be here if it were not for them supporting me in anything and everything I do. It is an honor to have them there supporting me.”

The athletes were awarded by their coaches in for the success on the field, court, and classrooms.

“I think the role of this event for the future of Madonna Athletics is to know how well other teams have performed throughout the year or semester. Also, people are able to be recognized for their achievements at the fall banquet if they may not be recognized at the BGA's,” said Boes. “It is nice to have that sense of pride when you receive an award. I think it will be a good event for Madonna.”
