Madonna University students have the opportunity to participate in intramural basketball this semester.

The intramural session provide an opportunity for students, faculty and staff to spend their leisure time in a variety of athletic and recreational offerings.

Many fliers are already hanging around the campus inviting those who are interested in playing intramurals to e-mail the organizer by Jan. 21. Many students already showed their interest and registered individually and as teams.

“I decided to participate in intramurals because it gives me an opportunity to take my mind off of school for a minute. I decided to come back because it was so fun last year,” said Tywonn Mitchell, majoring in Criminal Justice. “I believe the role of intramural sports is to bring the students together and just have some fun. Also, to make a connection between the athletes and the non-athletes.”

Traditionally participants gather at the Madonna University Activity Center Thursdays and Tuesdays from 10 p.m. to midnight. Actual Madonna Crusaders—the women’s basketball team—serve as referees to keep the competition fair.

“This is a great opportunity for me to meet new people and de-stress from classes and work,” said Colin Wilden, majoring in Accounting. “Not only will I get to exercise and have fun, but also to build my existing leadership skills and team working skills which are so essential for any job I that choose in the future.”
