Students can meet with presidential finalists starting Jan. 8 
The search for the next president of Madonna University is ahead of schedule.
Three finalists have been selected and will visit campus for one to two days in the middle of the month and will meet with students, faculty and staff. 
The first finalist, Michael Grandillo, will meet with students noon to 1 p.m. Thursday in Room S-100, Franciscan Center. 
Names of the second and third finalists will be released the week of their visits. The second candidate will be on campus Jan. 15 and 16 and will meet with students from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15 (Room 2423). The third finalist will visit Madonna Jan. 19 and 20 and meet with students noon to 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19 (Room 2423).
'Gangster Report' student film to be shown Jan. 16 on campus

The first feature film at Madonna University as part of the Broadcast and Cinema Arts capstone class will show at 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16,  in Kresge Hall.
The movie retells the story of David and Goliath and takes place in Detroit in the 1930s.
Ford MU Community Corps combines academics, service

The Ford MU Community Corps program allows students to put the skills they’ve learned in the classroom to practical use to serve the local community.
Both MU students and faculty believe it’s a positive experience.




Student United Way conducts 'Night Without a Home'

November was National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Month.  
Student United Way, Madonna University Athletics, and Student Life hosted events to bring awareness about poverty across the United States.
The event took place Nov. 19.

2 students spend Thanksgiving helping others

New format spices up Midnight Breakfast

The success of the Midnight Breakfast event sparked new ideas for next year’s event as well as created opportunities for a few of the students who participated. Midnight Breakfast is an event in which students are invited out to have fun and play games in hopes to ease their minds and also to encourage them to go into finals week with a positive attitude.

BLG students bowl to relieve stress
The trip to MerriBowl was fully funded by Madonna University in support of the student mentoring group’s stress-relief process. Students who attended were asked about their experiences.
Madonna University takes stand against human trafficking

The Office of Service-Learning encourages students to take action.  
The lecture and S.O.A.P UP service project will inform those who attend the weekend activities about human trafficking.
Volunteers are needed to help label soaps with a crisis center phone number for delivery to local hotels.

University introduces 2 health sciences majors
The university has created two new health sciences majors—Population Health Care Management and Health Care Informatics and Quality Systems Management. Students studying these concentrations of health science will be prepared to work in the changing health care field.

Gallery celebrates life of Belgian artist

Through the end of November, Madonna University is celebrating the life and art of Marie-Rose Coenegrachts. Her art, which mostly depicts the vast mountains and villages of France, her home country of Belgium, and New Mexico, is exquisite and on display in Madonna’s art gallery.

Women's basketball aims to keep winning; men to look to finish on a high note 
Halfway through their season so far, and the men’s basketball team is determined to end up on top while the women seek to keep the momentum going.
Teams chip in to make holidays brighter
The athletic department at Madonna University is doing all that it can to become more involved in giving back to the community over the holidays.
Crusaders Gunn, Smith run at National Championship
Only the second and third men’s cross country runners to qualify for Nationals, Ahron Gunn and Alec Smith competed in the NAIA Men’s Cross Country National Championship race in Kansas over the weekend.
“I think that Nationals went really well,” Gunn said. “It was a tough course, so the time doesn’t really reflect on the physical output needed to run that race. It wasn’t my fastest time of the season, but it was the hardest I’ve had to work and did work. This was the most challenging course I’ve run yet.”

Basketball leaves lasting impact on 5 seniors
The five seniors in the Crusaders basketball programs have made a significant impact on their respective programs and in return, their experience here has made a positive impact on them as individuals.
Former All-American Crusader Bobby Naubert signs professional contract in Germany

Former Crusader Bobby Naubert extends basketball career overseas in Germany. 
“Finding the right match with respect to program and coaching has been a journey. 
As it turned out, there was a European team that needed a point guard and I was blessed to receive an invitation to try out,” he said. 
When his playing days are over, he plans to return to MU to finish his education.
