Student United Way sponsors 'Night Without a Home'

November is National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Month.  
Student United Way, Madonna University Athletics, and Student Life will host events to bring awareness to poverty across the United States.
The even takes place Nov. 19.

Muse celebrates the arts, culture

The Madonna Muse is a literary print publication that was first published in 2007. Created by Language and Literature professor, Ioana Fracassi with the support of colleagues and former Dean of Arts and Humanities, Katie O’Dowd, the publication is a means to showcase the artistic pursuits of the Madonna community.


Students attend 'Romeo and Juliet' play
Madonna students recently attended a jaw-dropping performance of "Romeo and Juliet" at the Hilberry Theater at Wayne State University. Students who attended provided their opinions about the play.
More than $50,000 raised in Scholar-Am Classic
 Madonna’s 19th annual Scholar-Am Classic golf outing proved a success with more than $50,000 raised for scholarship funds.

Social media used to help childhood cancer research

The Madonna University bookstore and Barnes & Noble College have partnered  with the St. Baldrick’s foundation in their efforts to fund childhood cancer research. Students are urged to use social media to spread awareness.

University introduces 2 health sciences majors
The university has created two new health sciences majors—Population Health Care Management and Health Care Informatics and Quality Systems Management. Students studying these concentrations of health science will be prepared to work in the changing health care field.
Class exposed to environmental truths in Detroit

Madonna students learned about the most polluted area in Michigan during a tour for their Healthcare Informatics class.
The class is tasked with the job of collecting demographic information to create a data system for a project. Identifying health issues along with ethnic backgrounds and location support the purpose of the assignment.

Get rid of e-clutter the week of Nov. 17
Madonna University’s Lions Club and Ford MU Community Corps Journalism/Communication team will hold an electronic waste collection event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, in the parking lot of the main academic building at the university.

Visit Day ushers in undergraduates to campus
For many people, having to decide which college to attend involves taking a walk-through of said institution to get a better perspective of what the school has to offer.  It gives a better real-world feel for the school instead of viewing a website or reading a pamphlet.  Madonna University, they give tours just like any other college; however, for one whole day, the school invites upcoming students to a bigger event than just a pedestrian tour.

Gallery celebrates life of Belgian artist

Through the end of November, Madonna University is celebrating the life and art of Marie-Rose Coenegrachts. Her art, which mostly depicts the vast mountains and villages of France, her home country of Belgium, and New Mexico, is exquisite and on display in Madonna’s art gallery.


Cast list for 'A Christmas Carol' released
Auditions and callbacks for A Christmas Carol the Musical were successful. The cast list has been posted. The play will be presented Dec. 5 and 6.

Students have new Mexican restaurant to visit

If there are people who live in the Detroit area and enjoy going to new restaurants, there is another one to add to the list. However, new to Detroiters, its food has been in the mouth of others across the country.

Basketball leaves lasting impact on 5 seniors
The five seniors in the Crusaders basketball programs have made a significant impact on their respective programs and in return, their experience here has made a positive impact on them as individuals.
All five seniors have big career plans after graduation, but are focused on soaking up the moments of their final season.


Former All-American Crusader Bobby Naubert signs professional contract in Germany

Former Crusader Bobby Naubert extends basketball career overseas in Germany. 
“Finding the right match with respect to program and coaching has been a journey. 
As it turned out, there was a European team that needed a point guard and I was blessed to receive an invitation to try out,” he said. 
When his playing days are over, he plans to return to MU to finish his education.

Student-athletes host card making in Take-5 Lounge

The athletic community kicked off its first service event since the Student-Athlete Advisory Board was formed.  The athletes and other students made cards that will be given to hospitalized children.

Innovation ignites education, exploration at Madonna

As a student at Madonna University, my ability to study and research effectively has always been the top priority for professors and faculty alike. Whether I am listening to a teacher explain the need for study-time, or utilizing Madonna’s many resources, such as the computer labs and library, I always know that my academic efforts are supported. That being said, Madonna’s strong devotion to my success has achieved a new standard.

New Evangelization has its roots in Madonna

The term “New Evangelization” was coined in the 1980s by Pope St. John Paul II, and Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI popularized it.
