The Annual Madonna University Welcome Day Mixer Sept. 9 had an estimated 200 student participants, the largest amount the university has seen.
The event took place outside of the gym with a cook-out and a variety of networking opportunities and activities for students to partake in including a wrecking ball, food, board games, badminton, various lawn games and new this year, the inflatable obstacle course. There was also a student DJ who provided music for the event.

“This year’s Welcome Day Mixer was definitely the biggest that MU has ever seen,” said Nicole Nagy, First-Year Experience Assistant.

Nagy credits all of the people and offices who came together to make this year’s event happen, including Admissions, Athletics, Diversity and Multicultural Affairs, First-Year Experience, International Students Office, Residential Life and Student Life.

“I think that this event is important for students to attend because it provides a time for students to meet not only each other, but various staff and faculty members from around the university in a setting outside of the classroom,” said Nagy.  “We hope that students enjoyed the mixer and would love to have feedback as to what they would like to see next year.”

Donations are a pivotal piece to making the Mixer a success year after year. Many people donated plates, napkins, cups, bottled water, food items and prize giveaways. The Annual Madonna University Welcome Day Mixer serves as an excellent way to meet other Madonna University students and The Office of Student Life works very hard to provide various opportunities for students to meet.  Visit their office for more information in room 1001.

“We had a fair amount of faculty and staff in attendance and we hope to see more next year,” said Amanda Geraci, Student Life Coordinator.  “Overall we are very pleased with the turnout.”
