Blackboard, the online teaching platform, was upgraded over the summer and is in place for fall.
The upgrade took version 8 of Blackboard, Academic Suite, and bumped it to version 9.1, Blackboard Learn. This was the first upgrade since 2008, when Madonna University moved from version 7 to version 8.
While existing courses and their content within will remain the same, the look and feel of the menu will change. The new upgrade also allows students and staff to use tools such as blogs, wikis, and journals.
Users do not need to do anything differently when logging in, and are able to use their current username and password.
If you are new to Blackboard, you can log in using the link found on Madonna’s website or go directly to
Blackboard is a common tool used in many classes, so the sooner students become familiar with the program the better.
“We are pleased to announce that many faculty and staff members have attended training sessions to prepare for the new version,” said Beth Hoffman, Technology Support Specialist.

Anyone in need of assistance or who would like to become more familiar with Blackboard is encouraged to contact the Help Desk Staff at or by calling 734-432-5800.
